HEARING CONSERVATION
Safewest provides on-site audiometric testing and occupational noise evaluation to support Cal/OSHA compliance. Services are structured to determine employee exposure, meet regulatory requirements, and produce clear, defensible documentation.
SERVICES
Audiometric Hearing Testing
On-site audiometric testing is performed for employees included in a hearing conservation program. Baseline and annual audiograms are obtained using Cal/OSHA-compliant procedures, with appropriate review, follow-up, and documentation.
Hearing Protector Fit Testing
Fit testing measures the actual protection achieved by each employee and provides real-time feedback to improve fit. This verifies proper use and supports selection of hearing protection that performs effectively under real-world conditions.
Noise Surveys and Dosimetry
Noise exposure is evaluated using sound level measurements and/or full-shift personal dosimetry. These assessments are used to quantify employee exposure, identify high-noise tasks, and determine whether hearing conservation program requirements are triggered.
Hearing Conservation Programs
Written programs are developed for employers with noise exposures at or above the Cal/OSHA action level. Programs include required elements such as audiometric testing, hearing protection, and training, and are aligned with regulatory requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS
Safewest’s hearing conservation services are led by a CAOHC-certified Occupational Hearing Conservationist (COHC), with additional expertise available from a Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) for specialized projects. Audiometric testing and noise evaluations are conducted using calibrated equipment and Cal/OSHA-accepted methods to ensure accurate, defensible results.
